We receive lovely comments from visitors about our beautiful training site, and if you came on a taster day or to talk to us about your training needs, you would be able to appreciate the stunning natural surroundings. We know how unique we are – and we want to make sure that we preserve the learning environment that not only gives inspiration to our delegates, but that doubles as a home to many different types of wildlife. Here at Clough Bottom, the 360 acre organic farm where Focus is based, we believe in giving back to the ground more than we take. The co-founder of Focus Training and Farmer, Harry Backhouse uses methods of working that not only minimise our impact on using the land, but that improve the environment for the next generation. Hope you had a good July despite the weather!

Here at Focus Training, we don’t let the rain stop play. In fact sometimes battling the elements together can help to create a great team spirit! We have all the waterproofing and weather specific clothing you could ever need. Have a look at our photo tour to see people and groups throughout the year – through the snow and the sun! Of course, we pride ourselves on being flexible, so we have many in-door versions of the larger outdoor structures. We do our best to  create the optimum environment for learning, whatever your delegates’ needs!

Hello everyone,

Just as we were enjoying a proper summer, they had to go and announce a hosepipe ban….. with obvious results….The sun went in, the clouds appeared and the heavens opened…typical!

If you asked Harry, the co-founder of Focus Trainer and the farmer of Clough Bottom, he’s pretty happy about the rain. Some of the fields have been crying out for water as their growth has been stunted, and some of the younger shrubs won’t make it, but fortunately, the farm has a bore hole so there will be no problem watering the rest of the crops and feeding the organic cows. The site at the moment is beautiful – and it you were planning to visit us for a chat and a tour of the facilities, now is the ideal time.  Please feel free to get in touch on 01254 826 222 to arrange a convenient time. Even the delegates are helping with the water situation!!

Hello everyone,

We love the environment where we hold our outdoor experiential training programmes and workshops: Clough Bottom organic farm in Bashall Eaves, where Focus Training is situated, has to be experienced to understand how its beauty and relaxing ambiance can have such a  postive impact on our delegates. Here at Focus, we have an atmosphere which is a world away from the workplace. It encourages creativity, facilitates the learning of new skills which can be practiced in a safe environment and encourages the desired changes back at work. We’ve known that Clough Bottom has that ’something special’ ever since we established the business back in 1991, but we are delighted that this has now been nationally recognised too: Both Clough Bottom (which also supports a holiday cottage and semi-mature trees and shrubs business) and Focus Training have been shortlisted in the Best Practice Category of the Northwest Business Environment Awards 2010.

Enjoying a well-deserved break on the Summer 2010 Taster Day

Morning all – lovely weather again! If you’re in the Focus Area (Lancashire) you can expect to get a bit wet with us….Thursday and Friday are set to be very warm but bringing some much needed rain…hopefully we can delay the impending hose-pipe ban.

Morning all!

We’re ready for the Taster Day tomorrow – hope you are too! Looks like it’s going to be a warm day which will be perfect for the outdoor activities we have planned. The day is about leading people through change, engaging and motivating them, something very topical for many managers in the current climate! As well as learning how we can help your training needs, the FREE Focus Taster days are ideal for networking. L&D and HR Professionals from many different industries are able to get together and discuss the issues facing them – and the possible solutions. This Summer Taster Day, we have guests from manufacturing, retail, energy, and service industries rubbing shoulders and able to learn from each other.
