Morning everyone – hope you’ve all got an interesting bank holiday planned!
As you know we will be running our Summer taster day on the 16th June this year – less than 3 weeks away! Sometimes, prior to taster days or workshop, we have calls from delegates who are concerned about the outdoor activities and if they will have to do anything physically challenging. We’re pleased to tell you that you have nothing to worry about, as every activity has been specially designed to help you learn new people, team or management skills - NOT to test your strength or fitness. You will be moving your body physically to complete the tasks however there is a role for everyone on each of the tasks so we will ensure you are never asked to do something you feel is out of your capabilities. Focus Summer Taster Day Date Announced

Good morning! We’re pleased to let you know that we have the Summer Taster Day date for you! On the 16th June, we will be running a day for our clients and anyone interested in learning more about how Focus Training can help your training needs. The day will feature outdoor experiential learning, using the specially designed activities around our beautiful 365 acre organic farm. Winning Awards & Shaking Hands – Clough Bottom is ‘Officially Beautiful’

A compliment is nice, a few people admiring gives us a fluffy feeling, but a visit to London to see a Lord AND the chance to shake the hand of a man who is known to make a mean sticky toffee pudding – well – that’s a whole new level of good feeling! So, we’re on a bit of a high and so pleased to tell you that Clough Bottom, home of Focus Training has won Highly Commended for the North West in the Beautiful Farm Awards 2009/10.
We’ve long known that our 360 acre organic farm, the location of our experiential training, is more than a bit special, but it’s fantastic that Harry and Jane Backhouse’s hard work at Clough Bottom has been recognised. The farm creates the perfect atmosphere to facilitate learning, open up to creativity and focus on developing new skills in a safe environment. Please get in touch if you’d like to know more!

Clough Bottom looked stunning in the snow over the Xmas break! But despite it’s beauty, we’re all agreed that it’s time it disappeared now…… it’s time to look ahead and think about warmer temperatures and the optimism that comes with Spring.
In view of this, we’d like to announce our Spring Taster Day on the 4th March. Pencil the date in and give us a call to reserve a place on this free day. How useful was the 10th December Taster Day & Xmas lunch: ‘Practise is more important than Talent’ for our guests?
Hello everyone,
Well it’s Christmas eve and we’re about to shut up the office over the next few days for the festivities. It’s amazing how quickly the year has gone. We’ve just become used to typing 2009, and here we are – bidding farewell to the noughties….
It’s been a difficult year for most companies and many of our taster days have tried to help you address the people issues you are being faced with in this challenging climate. We’ve really enjoyed working with you and supporting you . Many of our clients are feeling in a stronger postion and are ready to tackle 2010 with optimism and confidence.
We’ve just had the final taster day of the year so to learn whether you would benefit from attending one next year, have a read of the review.

Well done Clough Bottom! Lancashire Evening Post’s Green Business of the Year!

Hello!
I’m sure that everyone is on countdown for the Xmas break, however Clough Bottom, the beautiful organic farm where Focus Training is based has reasons other than Christmas to celebrate!! We’re really pleased that Harry and Jane Backhouse’s committment to the environment and recycling has been recognised: The three 17th century converted luxury cottages have won the Lancashire Evening Post’s ‘Green business of the Year’ Award. Thanks for your visit at the CIPD Exhibition in Manchester!

We weren’t really sure how the change of location would affect the footfall and the type of visitors at the CIPD this year, but we’re really pleased to announce that it was a great show for Focus Training as a company, and, as we were told, a useful show for lots of our clients and potential clients.
The area set aside at the Manchester Central venue was smaller than the Exhibition Centre at Harrogate, the previous host, however we received many enquiries, had opportunity to speak to several current clients, and as a result we’ve been able to start the process of helping HR and L&D managers with their training needs for the new year. We have some new guests for the December Taster Day, so we’re looking forward to learning more about their development needs to help make their job that bit easier.
