Summer Visiting
w/c 12th July
Hello everyone,
Just as we were enjoying a proper summer, they had to go and announce a hosepipe ban….. with obvious results….The sun went in, the clouds appeared and the heavens opened…typical!
If you asked Harry, the co-founder of Focus Trainer and the farmer of Clough Bottom, he’s pretty happy about the rain. Some of the fields have been crying out for water as their growth has been stunted, and some of the younger shrubs won’t make it, but fortunately, the farm has a bore hole so there will be no problem watering the rest of the crops and feeding the organic cows. The site at the moment is beautiful – and it you were planning to visit us for a chat and a tour of the facilities, now is the ideal time. Hello everyone,
We love the environment where we hold our outdoor experiential training programmes and workshops: Clough Bottom organic farm in Bashall Eaves, where Focus Training is situated, has to be experienced to understand how its beauty and relaxing ambiance can have such a postive impact on our delegates. Here at Focus, we have an atmosphere which is a world away from the workplace. It encourages creativity, facilitates the learning of new skills which can be practiced in a safe environment and encourages the desired changes back at work. We’ve known that Clough Bottom has that ’something special’ ever since we established the business back in 1991, but we are delighted that this has now been nationally recognised too: Both Clough Bottom (which also supports a holiday cottage and semi-mature trees and shrubs business) and Focus Training have been shortlisted in the Best Practice Category of the Northwest Business Environment Awards 2010.

The FREE Summer Taster Day has finally arrived!

We’re ready for the Taster Day tomorrow – hope you are too! Looks like it’s going to be a warm day which will be perfect for the outdoor activities we have planned. The day is about leading people through change, engaging and motivating them, something very topical for many managers in the current climate! As well as learning how we can help your training needs, the FREE Focus Taster days are ideal for networking. L&D and HR Professionals from many different industries are able to get together and discuss the issues facing them – and the possible solutions. This Summer Taster Day, we have guests from manufacturing, retail, energy, and service industries rubbing shoulders and able to learn from each other.

Morning everyone – hope you’ve all got an interesting bank holiday planned!
As you know we will be running our Summer taster day on the 16th June this year – less than 3 weeks away! Sometimes, prior to taster days or workshop, we have calls from delegates who are concerned about the outdoor activities and if they will have to do anything physically challenging. We’re pleased to tell you that you have nothing to worry about, as every activity has been specially designed to help you learn new people, team or management skills - NOT to test your strength or fitness. You will be moving your body physically to complete the tasks however there is a role for everyone on each of the tasks so we will ensure you are never asked to do something you feel is out of your capabilities.
